VISION
LEDC strives to make Lexington the most desirable community in Texas, in which to do business and to provide a top
quality of life for its citizens.
MISSION
- To organize, implement and manage an economic development program for the greater Lexington area.
- To promote the economic well being of its citizens, while maintaining a high quality of life for the entire
community.
- To retain and create jobs and support tourism and commerce through the local business community.
Resolution Adopted by Vote of Lexington Citizens on MAY 1, 1999
“The adoption of an additional one-half of one percent sales and use tax within the City pursuant to the
provisions of Article 5190.6, VTCS, as amended (The Development Corporation Act of 1979), with proceeds thereof to
be used and applied in the manner and to the purposes authorized by Section 4B of the Act, including but not
limited to parks and park facilities, ball parks, museums, library/learning centers municipal buildings,
convention center, other related facilities including the development and maintenance of municipal and public
facilities, tourism, open-space improvements, and the promotion and development of new or expanded business
enterprises, related area transportation facililties and related roads, streets and electric, water and wastewater,
wastewater treatment, and sewer facilities and other related items that enhance any of those items including the
maintenance and operating costs of any such projects mentioned above.
